Giving the Power Back to the Providers

"After nearly 20 years of private practice, I had to enroll at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of business just to understand how to navigate our current landscape."

- Dave Verebelyi, MD, RVT

Over the last 18 years...

we have witnessed the dramatic drop in both reimbursement rates and autonomy of providers. During that same time prior authorizations, contracting and simply getting paid have gotten out of control, requiring specialized staff or expensive RCM contracts to manage the administrative labyrinths levied on providers. Added to this are massive cost increases we have seen both in labor and supply to operate a medical practice. At this point, the situation has become untenable. These trends have pushed so much talent out of the medical field. For those of us who have stayed, so much of the joy and satisfaction has been replaced with frustration.

What we've learned is... there are few ways for practices outside of private equity and large hospital systems to maintain profitability in the environment mentioned above, and a new paradigm must be created for private groups to survive without consolidation.

Our Solution works for all providers in all specialties

We aimed to set up a new type of independent practice association that would not only offer the benefits of a large health care system’s contracts on supplies, but also allow collective bargaining, all while maintaining each practice’s individual ownership.

By working with our partners on supply side, legal and government, we have created an IPA that now has the ability to give even single provider practices the same advantages of the largest health care systems in the nation concerning negotiating the contracts needed in every aspect of providing exceptional medical care. The National Provider’s Alliance is an IPA that can immediately reduce cost and increase net earnings for your practice while allowing you more time to practice medicine. Below is an explanation of what the National Provider’s Alliance is and how it can help your practice maintain its independence, improve clinical practices and drastically improve earnings.

What is an Independent Practice Association (IPA)?

An Independent Practice Association (IPA) is like a team or group that independent healthcare providers (such as solo doctors, groups of specialists or private clinics) join to work more effectively. It is a way for these individual practices to team up while keeping their independence.

Healthcare providers, like doctors or clinics, join an IPA mainly to improve their practice's effectiveness and financial stability. By teaming up with other practices, they can get better deals on supplies, reduce costs, access training support and have more bargaining power to get paid fairly for the services they provide. Essentially, joining an IPA helps them run their practice more smoothly and efficiently, while also potentially increasing their income.

Our IPA has a meticulously crafted platform that caters specifically to the needs of each specialty we serve. The goal of the NPA is to represent all specialties in all areas of the US and give the providers the ability to decide with their patient what is the best course of treatment.

Two words: Collective Bargaining.  No other group can allow independent physician to stay independent while allowing the benefits of collective bargaining with payer contracts.    Our purchasing contacts are some of the best in the industry but when you add to that the ability to be appropriately reimbursed for your talent and expertise and it changes the whole practice of medicine.  Suddenly you can afford to have the right supporting staff, the right equipment and you have time to focus on the patient.  Important details do not get missing to due time crunches and burn-out.  Patients are getting both better outcomes and a better experience. Staff are more engaged and perform better and you get to start being the expert and guiding care again.

Why Do Providers Join an IPA?

By teaming up with other practices, they can get better deals on supplies, reduce costs, access training support and have more bargaining power for their services. How is NPA Different from Other IPAs?

Our IPA caters specifically to the needs of each specialty we serve. The goal of the NPA is to represent all medical specialties across the US. This gives providers the resources and freedom to build and grow while maintaining their ability to decide — along with their patient — what the best course of treatment is for them. No other group allows physicians to stay as independent while still offering the benefits of collective bargaining.

Why NPA is completely different than other IPAs?

Two words: Collective Bargaining.  No other group can allow independent physician to stay independent while allowing the benefits of collective bargaining with payer contracts.    Our purchasing contacts are some of the best in the industry but when you add to that the ability to be appropriately reimbursed for your talent and expertise and it changes the whole practice of medicine.  Suddenly you can afford to have the right supporting staff, the right equipment and you have time to focus on the patient.  Important details do not get missing to due time crunches and burn-out.  Patients are getting both better outcomes and a better experience. What are the Advantages of Joining

We have levied our relationships with the largest private medical supply maker in the US to provide a supply contract not available to individual groups. Our supply contracts secure pricing that is the same as what hospitals, large health care systems and private equity groups receive. This means access to the highest-quality medical supplies at costs that optimize your bottom line, allowing you to focus on delivering exceptional patient care without financial constraints. In almost all cases, we can save your practice a minimum of 15% off your current supply cost.

Cost for merchant service processing has been creeping up ever since 2020. Our exclusive merchant services contract offers substantial potential savings, slashing credit card processing. In most cases we can save your practice at least 30% when compared to your current merchant services rate. These savings directly impact your practice's profitability, empowering you to reinvest in critical areas such as patient care, equipment upgrades, or staff training.
COVID taught all of us a lesson about accessing supplies. The small private offices were often the last to receive vital medical supplies when compared to the hospital. Often time we had to alter procedures which increased medical errors and worsened outcomes. We understand the challenges practices face in accessing necessary supplies. Through the NPA, we are able to act as a large health care system ensuring most stable access to the drugs and supplies your practice requires to limit increases in cost, time searching for alternatives and ultimately reducing medical errors by keeping access to standardized products.
One of our mains goals is to improve both patient outcomes and patient satisfaction. One of the most effective ways to do this is by standardizing training protocols. Our comprehensive platform offers access to standardized training materials for both your staff and providers. This ensures uniformity in knowledge, expertise, and protocols, ultimately enhancing the quality of care delivered across your practice.
Our IPA uniquely combines the benefits of collective bargaining while preserving the autonomy of individual practices. This can mean substantial increases in reimbursement for many offices for their most commonly performed procedures. Many of us know that right now the CMS payment schedule does not allow for proper equipment and staffing, amplifying the financial success of each participating practice.
Artificial intelligence has the capacity to revolutionize medicine. Most providers are unsure of how to best utilize it in their own practice and which AI tools are ready to be deployed. NPA has an entire group that solely specializes in understanding the rapidity changing AI landscape and how to strategically employee AI tools into different parts of each specialty.

Why has this not been done before?

Most IPAs can only offer group purchasing discounts, but not collective bargaining.

This is because of federal trade commission antitrust laws. The exception to these laws comes when there is a clinical benefit to patients from this type of organization.

In our case, we help standardize commonly-performed medical procedures, and collect data on both results and patient satisfaction to improve overall clinical outcomes. Because of this, the FTC/DOJ have granted our group special permissions not offered to other IPAs.

We understand every practice is unique.

The NPA is designed to cater to these individual needs while fostering a collaborative environment for mutual growth and success

Selling out to private equity or working for a large health system are no longer the only ways to navigate successfully into the future of medicine. You can maintain your independence while obtaining lower operating costs, fair reimbursement and business guidance at high levels.

Joining our IPA is more than just a business decision; it’s a strategic advantage towards unlocking your practice’s full potential. We welcome the chance to discuss in more detail how the NPA can specifically benefit your practice. Please reach out to schedule a meeting so we can show you how we can both save you money on your expenses and improve your reimbursement
